ergun akleman Ergun Akleman

Ergun’s research interests include modeling woven objects, topological implicit modeling, sketching, non photorealistic rendering, visual storytelling, image based lighting, texture and tiles, computer aided caricature. compositing and Visualization. His work on topological mesh modeling resulted in a mesh modeling system called TopMod, making high genus manifold shapes easier to construct.

susannah bieber Susannah Bieber

Susanneh Bieber's area of research is modern and contemporary American art in an international context. In her scholarly work she addresses the social role of art within the broader fields of visual and material culture. Her expertise also includes curatorial practices and museum studies.

Sharon currently runs  The Story Lab which conducts research in the area of human-computer interaction (HCI) with a focus on the design and evaluation of technologies that draw inspiration from narrative theories. Her interests lie in Educational technologies; Child-computer interaction; Technologies for aging populations; Human-computer interaction.

Philip Galanter Philip Galanter

Phil’s interest areas are complex systems, generative art, emergence and physical computing. Among these areas of research, complexism involves the extension of the world-view suggested by complexity science into the problem space of the arts and humanities. Computational aesthetic evaluation answers questions like "How can we build digital systems that evaluate art, design, music, etc. with results consistent with human notions of beauty?"

morgan jenks   Morgan Jenks

Morgan is highly interested in liveness in electronic music and how real-time computation can synergize with human performance. He has a passion for mathematical patterns and the brilliance of living systems. CGI and imagery of plants and earth form the basis for most of his visual materials. He also deeply loves people; his lyrical work focuses on relationships between people as well as the relationship between humanity and the non-man-made.

Carol LaFayette Carol LaFayette

Carol is currently working with an NSF supported project to form SEAD, a national network for transdisciplinary engagement among the sciences, engineering, arts, and design.

Tim McLaughlin Tim McLaughlin

Tim McLaughlin’s research interests focus on the perception of animal motion, using technology to facilitate creative problem solving among distant collaborators, and developing video games for training and simulation. His recent research topics include: Distance Learning in Collaborative Digital Environments, Evidence-Based Visual Style Development for Video Games, and Perception Based Animation Generation.

Ann McNamara Ann McNamara

Ann McNamara’s research focuses on the advancement of computer graphics and scientific visualization through novel approaches for optimizing an individual’s experience when creating, viewing and interacting with virtual spaces. She investigates new ways to exploit knowledge of human visual perception to produce high quality computer graphics and animations more efficiently.

Fred Parke Fred Parke

Dr. Fred Parke’s research has been in the area of conversational interfaces which combines a long standing interest in facial animation with the use of speech recognition and speech synthesis to support multi-modal user interfaces and low bandwidth virtual video conferencing. He is also Co-PI for a project developing innovative ‘next-generation’ immersive visualization systems.

francis-quek   Francis Quek

Francis currently runs the TAMU Embodied Interaction Lab (TEILab) at Texas A&M University which focuses on interaction research based on the premise that humans are embodied beings. Dr. Quek’s research area is human-computer interaction and computer vision, focusing on embodied interaction and cognition, support for human learning, and research in assistive technologies for individuals with disabilities (blindness). His research is highly relevant to K-12, STEM, and inclusive education.

Eric currently runs The  Interactive Data and Immersive Environments (Indie) research lab at Texas A&M University which conducts human-centered research of interactive visualizations. We focus on the design and evaluation of applications and techniques that support effective interaction and understanding of data, information, and virtual environments. Most of our research lies under the umbrella of human-computer interaction (HCI), and projects address topics information visualization, visual analytics, virtual reality, or 3D interaction..

Hwaryoung’s art research focuses on embodied interactions between body, environment and technology exploring interactive installation, responsive environment, mixed reality environment, wearable computing and organic interface design. She investigates aesthetics of experience in interactive art that can open up a new interdisciplinary research on human experience in the areas of art, education, entertainment, and health sciences.
